In 1626 the Dutch bought Manhattan Island from the Lenape Indians, this fact occurred in Inwood Hill Park. This park contains the last natural forest in Manhattan. The oldest building in Inwood is the Dyckman Farmhouse, with more than 220 years, located at 4881 Broadway and 204 th Street. During the first part of the twentieth century the area was inhabited mostly by Irish and Jews. After the second half of this century as they were mobilizing communities are other neighborhoods in the city, the area began to experience an increase of the Dominican population, which currently complies with the Washington Heights area with the largest Dominican population in the USA. Its main shopping streets are Broadway, Dyckman Street and 207th Street .
